"Lord Jesus, I invite you into my heart and I ask forgiveness for all of my sin. Jesus, thank you for dying for my sins and for forgiving me of them through your shed blood for me on the cross. Please take away all the sinful "old things" in my heart that defile me, especially _____________________(Fill in the Blank)
“I renounce that and give all the ground that I gave the enemy through them back to your control, Lord Jesus. Pour into my heart all of the "good things" that you desire to grow in to my life, with mercy, grace and power.”
“Lord Jesus, Please wash away all the iniquities and tendencies toward evil and replace them with a hunger and thirst for your righteousness. I need your help, Father God, in living this new life in Christ. Please send your Holy Spirit afresh into my life to help me, heal me, lead me and transform me. Please restore me to faithful obedience to Your Word, and fill me with Your Holy Spirit anew, so that I may keep Your commands all the days of my life."In Jesus Christ I pray, Amen."
I wanted to make that a slogan on a T-
Honest! Can you see it?
My heart cry was for brothers and sisters in the Lord that have “this one little thing” that they are holding onto, this “one little thing” that they're not ready or willing to give up yet, that “one little thing” that is preventing them from hearing the Lord, from a closer relationship from Him, that may even be keeping them FROM THE KINGDOM...that one thing that GRIEVES the Lord so.
Could you think of something right now, that you know YOU shouldn't be doing...if you think really hard?
We all do.
If you love the world, the love for the Father is not in you.
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.” (1 John 2:15)
There are many things at stake here: First of all, there is your testimony as a believer. Exactly how much do you expect someone to believe that you Love the Lord Jesus when they witness what the world does in you. We are not OF this world, right? So why would we follow it's ways or do as it does?
We know that they are watching us. The “world” all around us is either waiting for us to screw up so they may judge us and condemn us....or they’re waiting to see if we are truly different: if we believe the hope that is we profess to know in Christ Jesus.
If the Father is always about His business in the advancement of the Kingdom, then it's a serious matter for us to be a part of that process, but our possible hand in the hindrance of another coming to the Lord, because of our life not being right with Christ, would be a travesty. Oh, I'm positive that the Lord doesn't really need us for any work that He is set in doing, but I would not want to be a hindrance in His plan, do you? “covered by grace” or not, I really also not want [at any cost], to be accused of not having a love for the Father...nor
Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. (1 John 2:4)
HOW can any of us possibly tell another that we know the Lord Jesus when we continue in a sin that we KNOW about? I have an opinion that when we sin knowingly, we literally PUSH CHRIST ASIDE to get at what we want. I actually picture myself doing that when I have to hold myself accountable in trying not to do what I should not do. .
Thank you, Lord, for your grace and mercy when I fail at that and pursue MY way anyway, but before I give anyone the impression that I use grace as a tactic to do so on a regular basis, when I know better, look what His word says about THAT:
No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. (1 John 3:6)
“If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left,” (Hebrews 10:26)
“No sacrifice for sin is left!”
Ok, this is serious. This verse actually says that “NO SACRIFICE FOR SINS IS LEFT” if we KEEP on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth. Stop me if I'm off on a bender, folks, but I believe it's saying that we do not have the right to knowingly enter sin, that there is no other sacrifice to cover that once given His truth and revelation, not even the blood of Jesus Christ.
Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don't
be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male
prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers,
nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-
Paul asks us if we KNOW that “wrongdoers” will not inherit the kingdom! The Scriptures have warned us many times in His word of what will NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM and I think many of us would be surprised to know how easy it is to fall into some of these things....like having any “selfish ambition...or dissension with another...or how about factions or envy? “Factions” : “A group of persons forming a cohesive, usually contentious minority within a larger group.” Have you not have seen slight variations of that type of phenomenon even in God's church?
Now the works of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness,
lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries,
divisions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these;
of which I forewarn you, even as I also forewarned you, that those who practice such
things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-
Paul said in that he was warning us “AS HE DID BEFORE”!
Grace is not an excuse to sin
I have met many brothers and sisters in the Lord who know they have an area of their life that needs cleaning, surrender, repentance, etc, and truly believe in their heart that they are living for Christ, and that one day HE will “get at that” one issue in their life, but for now, they believe that they don't have to worry about it. I even know some who will actually BOAST that they are covered in grace and perform a little “wink, wink” in regards to a “known sin”.
Here's a question: are they hiding, as Adam did in the garden, hoping that the Lord will not find them...or did they actually put both hands on the Lord's chest and push Him aside and tell Him to get out of their way?
Do we have power to sin no more”
In John 3:8-
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. (2 Corinthians 7:10)
Is Jesus a Liar?
So either we are able to “go and sin no more” or Jesus a liar. Maybe he he taunt us mercilessly, putting something on our back that we cannot possibly do? I believe that if we truly know the extent of the grace and mercy that we have received, then we would totally appreciate the opportunity to swim in that grace, and CHOOSE to not sin or knowingly making choices that push Christ aside. If we say we truly LOVE HIM, then HOW can we “keep on sinning”?
No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. (1 John 3:6)
We are free moral agents.
We have the CHOICE...
and the POWER to say NO to sin
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30)
I'm not saying in the least that we are perfect, as the blood of Christ covers much, and I believe that He has mercy and grace for our ignorance, and for being human, but we need to be really, REALLY careful when we are convicted of a sin in our life, and STILL CHOOSE to “go our own way”. We are ultimately responsible for our own actions.
You're always standing somewhere. I remind my daughter that she is ALWAYS “standing for something” she just has to be careful where that is. NO matter what she is doing...or thinking, no matter what it is, she is always making a stand somewhere and that she needs to be able to understand that she should feel strongly enough about it to look in the Lord’s eyes and say : “OK LORD! THIS IS WHAT I AM STANDING ON!”.
Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. (Acts 3:19)
Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. (1 John 2:6)
Did you see the word “MUST” in there? I'm sorry folks but I don't believe we have a “choice” in how we have to live our lives. We are servants, not rulers of our own life.
I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God’s grace given me through the working of his power. (Ephesians 3:7)
He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. (John 15:2)
Remember that poor fig tree in Matthew 21:18? The tree had only leaves and did not bear fruit, and Jesus cursed it and it withered immediately. What does YOUR “fruit” look like? Jesus said in John 15:16 that He chose us and appointed us to go and “bear fruit that will last”. He also said in John 15:4 that you CANNOT BEAR fruit by yourself but ONLY if you “remain in Him”.
I hear this ALL the time and it grieves my heart so because I know that this is one of the most precious and important gifts that the Lord gave us: to commune WITH Him, not just TALK AT Him, but actually HEAR Him. If we cannot hear Him, it's usually because we've got something in between ourselves and Him...or we’re not seeking His face.
What's causing this “gap” is usually sin. It can be something that we're aware of that may cause a sliver of guilt and/or shame to pull back us back a little from approaching the throne fully...or preventing us from running with all the steam we can gather within us into His presence.
So...what are you holding onto that you KNOW you shouldn't? What is there that the Lord's been putting His little finger on, that you know you've heard His still small voice pricking your heart about that you need to surrender to Him?
Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O LORD. (Psalm 25:7)
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.
How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? (Romans 6:1-
Remember that woman about to be stoned? Jesus shows this woman mercy by not giving her what she deserved: Death. He showed her grace by giving her what she did not deserve: a second chance. “Neither do I condemn you” are the words of a Savior. “Go and sin no more” are the words of a Lord. Everybody wants a Savior, few are willing to submit to the words of a Lord. But you see, Jesus can’t be our Savior unless we are willing to submit to His Lordship. He’s got to be both
There will come a time when Jesus our Savior will become Jesus our Judge. The good news is that there is still time for us to hear him say, “go and sin no more”. God dealt with our sins through Jesus at the cross but He is now dealing with us in terms of what we can become in the future! 2 Corinthians 5.17 says that you are a NEW CREATION if you are in Christ, the old gone and the new has come. Let's start acting like new creations.
“If you love me, keep my commands. (John 14:15)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Stop striving over that one issue (or two). Once you are willing to surrender what is not of the Lord, then you will find that He will take that in HIS strength and power and you don't have to work so hard to get rid of it. He will continue to lead you
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13
With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. (2 Thessalonians 1:11) .
Once you are willing to allow the Lord Jesus to clean up your life, then you will want to come into a deeper relationship with the Living Lord. You will learn how to hear His voice clearer and receive revelation and teaching from the throne.
Do you want to truly KNOW the Lord, His desires for your life: your family, your job, your health and everything that encompasses? Be willing to give up all you have to get there: all that is not of the Lord; all that prevents you from going deeper and deeper into a manifest relationship with your living God.
Most of us truly believe that we have surrendered to Him fully, but if you ask us if there is one thing in our lives that we know is not considered “pure and Holy”, I believe we can answer that question ourselves. IF not, ask the Lord if there is anything there that HE sees and listen hard. Bring it to the throne, all of it, surrender totally. His strength will hold us to the cross and He said he would take our iniquities, so even our unholy desires or weaknesses He can take. Lay it down here at the throne. You will receive the blessings.
